••• Leaf Gift Labels!

With leaf, from me to you.

A quickie! These labels are easy and ephemeral — a nice little touch for a nice little present.

Below are recommendations, but a great maker motto is: Use what you’ve got! Get hands on, get started, and try not to get caught up in whether you’ve sourced the “right” things.

••• leaves!

What makes a good leaf label? Look for foliage that is:

  • leathery / paper-y;

  • thick;

  • has a sturdy (enough) stem to tie it to your giftie;

  • has enough room to write on / decorate!

Eucalyptus is great. Or holly, or magnolia, or rubber tree, or ficus, or olive, or oak… lots to choose from. Take a walk and see if you can find any fallen specimens. Dried leaves can be awesome! Keep in mind that these are all ephemeral, and may wither, or crack, or otherwise change a bit as they age (before or after you give your gift) — and that’s part of the fun.

The best way to tell if a leaf you like will work? Try it!

••• something to write with!

Paint pens are perfect here — fun colors, consistent coverage, work great on most surfaces — but you could give Sharpies, markers, paint, or whatever you’ve got a go.

••• something to tie it to your giftie!

Ribbon! Twine! Yarn!

To you, 💚 me

Address your leaves, attach them to your gifts, and give with love.
